AGRICOLTURA

With “the empowerment of rural women and their role in poverty and hunger eradication, development and current challenges” as the priority theme, the 56th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW56),

held from 27 February to 9 March 2012 at UN Headquarters in New York, turned its attention to rural women.
Differently from previous CSW sessions, the Commission did not adopt “agreed conclusions,” as Member States could not find agreement on the proposed text in the draft outcome document. Nevertheless, it did result in the adoption of various draft resolutions and one decision. (...)
