A set of 21 papers covering a wide range of issues related to food security has been published in a special open access edition of the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, UK. This special issue has been compiled and edited by H. Charles J. Godfray, John R. Beddington, Ian R. Crute, Lawrence Haddad, David Lawrence, James F. Muir, Jules Pretty, Sherman Robinson and Camilla Toulmin.
Scientists from many disciplines and countries authored the papers, that are part of a UK government foresight study on the future of the global food industry.  The final report will be published later this year in advance of the UN climate talks in Cancun, Mexico. (...)
