Tandis qu'en Inde, le figuier est symbole d'éternité, arbre de la bodhi, c'est sous son ombre que le Buddha atteignit l'Eveil. Au Japon, hanami, la période de floraison des cerisiers, les sakura, est un événement célébré dans tout le pays.
